Our National Programs Manager Kelly Taylor is on the road again, delivering our Financial Wellbeing Program in collaboration with jobs-focused social enterprises - this month she's with the awesome folks at Joii. The first year evaluation of the program is now available, the results are impressive. Jacob’s story is a great example of the importance of wrap-around support and shows the difference a program like the Financial Wellbeing Program can make. Participating in the program gave him the confidence, knowledge and skills to understand and face a substantial debt problem he had been ignoring. With help from his case worker at YMCA ReBuild , he was also able to find out about a prison program where time served can count towards some fines being waived. He reduced the amount he owed from $9,000 to $200. It’s stories like Jacob’s that remind us why we do the work we do. We’re excited to share the first-year results of our Financial Wellbeing Program. The program is the first bespoke financial wellbeing program created specifically for, and with, jobs-focused social enterprises to enhance the vital wrap-around support they provide. The results show that the program is already helping to empower employees and build confidence in money management. In one case, the training prompted an employee to deal with a debt problem he had been ignoring – which resulted in him reducing his debt from thousands to $200.
