Meet our Industry Member Community Flower Studio Inc. (CFS) Community Flower Studio is a not-for-profit social enterprise that sells floral arrangements, indoor plants, and art, with all net proceeds directed towards supporting youth facing mental health challenges. CFS goes beyond traditional support by offering creative workshops in collaboration with youth outreach services, like the long-standing charity StreetWork, to nurture artistic talents, provide inspiration and encourage personal growth. CFS goes a step further by also providing work experience opportunities in their pop-up shops, where young individuals can learn customer service and work ethics. For those looking towards higher education, CFS connects them with mentors to support their goals and help pave the way to meaningful employment. CFS is all about giving young people the tools they need to succeed and make a positive change in their lives. Another great Business for Good Breakfast in Bayside Council (NSW) territory this morning. Kylie Flament had some great discussions with people from local businesses, social enterprises, not-for-profits and government agencies (a great mix!) about what it means to be a social enterprise, the challenges and opportunities for each organisation at the table, and some interesting collaborations might just have been born over chai lattes, omelettes and wholefood muffins at the incredible cafe The Shack in Monterey. Westpac Foundation's inclusive employment grants have just opened for the year. They are for $50,000 per organisation over two years, for community organisations or social enterprises working to create inclusive employment opportunities for people facing barriers to work. The Social Impact in the Regions conference (in Kempsey NSW 4-6 September) is offering 10 bursaries and looking for speakers. Bursary applications close 12 April. Vicinity Centres are offering grants of up to $10,000 to social enterprises (and community organisations) located around their retail centres in Armidale, Bankstown, Carlingford, Chatswood, Homebush, Lake Haven, Penrith, Sydney City, Roselands and Warriewood. Seedkit is a free impact measurement tool for social enterprises, designed by researchers who live and breathe social impact. We would love to hear from social enterprises using this tool, especially the new release. What works well or doesn’t about it? As governments take more interest in social enterprise, impact measurement and reporting is ever more critical. High quality, freely available tools are hard to come by, so initiatives like this are most welcome!
